When my grown children recall their childhood memories, it usually starts with, “The time we…”. Ironically, our memories are not marked by “things”, but experiences. Travel affords us the opportunity to step outside of our insular world and change our perspective. We can immerse ourselves into different landscapes, cultures, food, art, music, and languages. You can’t help it. You return home changed by the experience. You discover that smiles, tears, laughter, and joy can cross language barriers. You don’t need a translator to observe a traveling family exhausted by their children or teenagers. You find more commonalities than differences. I become awed by that time-space convergence that happens when sitting next ancient ruins in Greece or a shoreline in Hawaii. My first European trip was with Travel Lovers. I am excited to be where my adventure began. I am reminded of a poster by my favorite illustrator, Mary Engelbreit, that reads; “If you don’t start, you won’t arrive”. I look forward to helping you determine where your journey begins.
